Hi, my name is Baldwin Berges. I am a Business Development and Investment Strategist.

With all the distraction and overwhelm of today’s world, it is not easy to get people to listen to your message and adopt your ideas.

That is why I made it my specialty is to turn complex value propositions into messages that your clients, colleagues, and stakeholders will listen to.

I design effective strategies that get results in a world of information overload.

More specifically, my forte is to position investment opportunities to the right investors on a global basis.

My expertise was built on the foundational belief that, regardless of the industry or the size of the business, acquiring a deep understanding of who your clients exactly are, the ability to help them better understand their challenges and how to overcome them is what truly defines a great business.

A proposition becomes difficult to ignore when a business has a purpose that is proudly adopted by its own people and intuitively understood by its clients.

About my work in the investment space:

I have made it my craft to turn complex value propositions and 'unusual' ideas in lesser known places into more intuitive messages, stories, and investment opportunities. I apply this craft to position investment opportunities to the right investors on a global basis.

I believe that before 2030, we will have 3 billion new voices and minds joining the global conversation. I consider this to be one of the most powerful long-term investment opportunities of a lifetime.

Ironically, the essence of investing is to be positioned for what is to come but most investors are under pressure to reflect the world as it is today.

There are more than US$50 trillion sloshing around the global financial markets but only a tiny fraction is working to the benefit of developing the economies where most people live. My goal is to contribute to making financial markets work for a more balanced and prosperous global society.

My main motivation is to help investors not only better understand the opportunities in more ‘exotic’ investment destinations, but also help them reap the benefits of their rise to prominence.

Last but not least:

In addition to working with organisations in the investments sector, I am also an Independent Expert Advisor to the European Commission (EC). I work with the EC within the Horizon 2020 funding programme - Europe’s leading investment initiative with nearly €80 billion of funding available for Innovative SMEs and ambitious international research programmes. My role within the programme is as an expert advisor on innovation, business development and go-to-market strategy for the various initiatives that result from the EU's Horizon 2020 program.

I am one of the co-founders of Silk Invest, a specialist investment management firm that opens new routes for investors in fast-growing markets in Africa and Asia which are mostly ignored by investors.

Furthermore, I am a Belgian national and a proud European Citizen. I cultivate an inclusive worldview and fluently speak six languages.
